The conference discussed the issues of Baltic arbitration
On September 12, on the occasion of the Vilnius Arbitration Day 2024, an international conference “Arbitration in the Baltics: Distinctiveness vs. Global Conformity” was held at the Aula Parva of Vilnius University, which was jointly organised by the VU Law Faculty, Riga Graduate School of Law and the University of Tartu School of Law. The event brought together legal scholars and practitioners from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to discuss each countries’ arbitration experience and challenges.
The issues of Lithuanian arbitration were discussed by Assoc. Prof. Dr Vigita Vėbraitė, Vice-Dean for Studies of the VU Law Faculty, as well as by other lecturers of the Faculty: Prof. Dr Rimantas Simaitis, senior lecturers Dr Eglė Zemlytė, Dr Tadas Varapnickas, and Dr Milda Markevičiūtė. They presented Lithuanian arbitration courts‘ history, statistics, advantages and perceived problems.
