Lecture “Cyber operation in the context of international law and national security”
On November 13 was held the lecture “Cyber operation in the context of international law and national security” which was given by Kadri Kasa, Cyber Law and Security Adviser from Estonia, and a former Legal Adviser and Head of Unit at the NATO Cyber Defence Cooperation Centre (CCDCOE).
Expert presented cyber operations and the evolution of international law and noticed growing complexity and impact of cyber attacks. As she told, cyber threats can vary from cybercrimes done by professionals seeking for financial gain, to state sponsored cyber operations motivated by geopolitical objectives.
Seeking to ensure security, international law keeps countries comunicating to each other and pushes towards more resilient infrastractures, but it is not enough. “International law is only one tool in a tool box,” says K. Kasa, speaking about actions towards cyber security.
