Contemporary Legal Issues were Discussed in the Conference of Young Legal Researchers
Last week, on 16-17 May, the VU SCIC library hosted the 11th International Network of Doctoral Studies in Law conference “Law and Beyond: Anything New on the Legal Front?”, which is for PhD students and young legal researchers from different countries.
The conference speakers were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. D. Vigita Vėbraitė, Vice-Dean for studies of the VU Law Faculty, and Prof. dr. Tomas Davulis, who gave a presentation on the challenges faced by young lawyers. During the two-day event, various contemporary legal issues were discussed in nine different sessions and an interdisciplinary approach was adopted.
The sessions on the first day of the conference delved into the topics of law and philosophy, law and artificial intelligence (AI). As well, the focus was on global issues and economic and financial topics related to law.
Five sessions were held on 17 May, with presentations on constitutional law, dispute resolution, European Union law, law and social policy and law and technology.
This annual conference is an opportunity for young legal scholars from different countries to meet and share their ideas. This year’s conference brought together speakers from 12 countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Poland, Norway, France, Bulgaria, Latvia, Slovenia, Georgia, Ukraine and Lithuania.
