VU Law Faculty has started the new academic year
Today, the community of the Vilnius University Law Faculty welcomed the new academic year with the shining sun and the greetings of the guests. September 1st is a special celebration for the academic community, especially for the first-year students, who are starting a new phase and taking their first steps in the field of legal education.
The event was addressed by distinguished guests and members of the VU Faculty of Law community: Gintaras Goda, The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danguolė Bublienė, the President of the Supreme Court of Lithuania

The celebration of the start of the new study year and the integration of the first-year students into the life of the faculty is unthinkable without the efforts of the Students’ Representation. Guoda Baubaitė, President of the VU TF SR, wished to take your time and enjoy every moment: “Enjoy every step in the corridors of the Faculty, every sitting with the group, every excitement before a difficult exam. Because time passes quickly, too quickly.”
The celebration was closed by the Dean of the VU Law Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haroldas Šinkūnas. He thanked the lecturers, alumni and partners. He reminded the audience how much has been achieved in the 33 years of independence: “We have to remember and constantly think about what we have created and what we have – it is very fragile.” He congratulated the first-year law students on their choice of law and spoke of the responsibility inherent in being a lawyer: “You have to be impartial, independent and defend human rights.”
Students of Vilnius University have always celebrated September 1st in a procession involving all faculties. Like every year, this year the slogans of the students of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University echoed and the symbol of law – Themis – shone from afar.
