Interactive commemoration of March 11 “1990 March 11 act in the perspective of the struggle for independence”
On March 8, 2023 was held the interactive event “1990 March 11 act in the perspective of the struggle for independence”, which was traditionally organized by korp! Iustitia. The event was welcomed by the vice-dean assoc. prof. dr. Vigita Vėbraitė and teacher signatory prof. dr. Jonas Prapiestis.
The first part of the event consisted of short reports read by two researchers of the VU Law Faculty: assoc. prof. dr. Indrė Isokaitė-Valužė and assoc. prof. dr. Vaidotas Vaičaitis, and researcher of the Institute of History assoc. dr. Česlovas Laurinavicius. They analyzed act of March 11 in 1990 from the perspectives of international law, constitutional law and history.
In the second interactive part of the event, students had to solve the challenges of a nation wishing to declare independence: to present legal arguments justifying the declaration of independence of the supposed nation and its legitimacy. A total of nine teams participated, and the three best were awarded with prizes established by the VU Law Faculty and the Signatories Club. This year, the law students team “civitai” (Gustė Gudaitytė, Martyna Bacevičiūtė, Jogailė Glinskytė) performed best. The second place was won by the team “Politeja” (Guoda Kamarauskaitė, Austėja Jančiauskaitė, Gaudencija Januškaitė). The third place was taken by “Magistralė” (Smiltė Dzimidavičiūtė, Adrija Čerškutė, Aistė Daugytė). The event was moderated by corp! Iustitia junior Elžbieta Radušytė.
