Conference “Challenges of the Systematicity of the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania”
The team of the Department of Criminal Justice of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University – Prof. Habil. Dr. Gintaras Švedas, Prof. Dr. Jonas Prapiestis, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anželika Vosyliūtė and Darius Prapiestis – in the years 2019-2022, they conducted a scientific study “Challenges of the Systematicity of the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania”, which was financed by the Lithuanian Science Council under the direction of activities supported by the Council “Projects of groups of researchers”.
This study was aimed at assessing the systematicity (integrity, compatibility, consistency, etc.) of the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania of 2000, identifying and analyzing gaps, shortcomings and unresolved issues in legal regulation and/or application. Researchers who have studied the trends of criminal legislation of the last twenty years, the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Lithuania and scientific production on the issues of the special part of the criminal law, have presented an assessment of each section of the Special Part of the Criminal Code and proposals for the improvement of legal regulation.
The results of the scientific study “Challenges of the Systematicity of the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania” were presented on 6th of May 2022 at the held scientific conference, where presentations were given by Professors Gintaras Švedas, Jonas Prapiestis, Aurelijus Gutauskas, Olegas Fedosiuk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anželika Vosyliūtė.
