The annual Student’s Scientific Society Conference
On 7th of May 2020 for the first time, the final conference of the VU TF Student Scientific Society (SMD) was held virtually. This was also one of the events of this year’s Lawyers’ Days (Tedi’20).
During the conference, six teams presented their work:
- Alanas Gulbinas, Kamilė Jogminaitė spoke about the problems and challenges of digital business taxation;
- The topic of Gretė Bagdonaitė and Leila Abi Chaker was “Who is responsible for clean oceans?”;
- Gabrielė Velta Mickevičiūtė and Vytautas Pasvenskas discussed the topic “Child’s right to protection of personal data”;
- The topic of Akvilė Medvedevaitė and Aurelijas Meinoris is “Private armies: a legal impasse”;
- Vincas Šniutė and Danas Šniutė spoke on the topic “Military drones: can we protect civilians?”
- Monika Ubavičiūtė and Laimonas Petreikis spoke on the topic “Blocking access to websites as a way of protecting copyrights”.
The first place according to the votes of the commission and the audience took Alanas Gulbinas and Kamilė Jogminaitė, whose said in the report that the concept of measuring business value is changing, i. e. that businesses create value not only at the place of permanent residence, but also where it is not, there is a real basis for modifying the regulation of the corporate tax and introducing the concept of digital residence.
Gretė Bagdonaitė and Leila Abi Chaker took the second place, Gabrielė Velta Mickevičiūtė and Vytautas Pasvenskas took the third place.
Traditionally, all the winners were awarded scholarships from the VU TF Alumni Society, and later a publication of all the works written will be published.
