Conference-discussion “Group Action: Challenges and Opportunities”
On 16 January 2015, the scientific conference-discussion “Group Action: Challenges and Opportunities“ was organised by the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University together with law firm Tark Grunte Sutkiene and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania.
During the conference-discussion legal scholars and practitioners introduced the specificities of the institute of the group action, shared their experiences, insights and revealed the main advantages and disadvantages of the group action. During the discussion, the aim was to identify the challenges awaiting the parties and the courts when applying the new provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure. Also, participants of the conference discussed practical measures of law enforcement should be taken in order to make the group action institute not a declarative, but a real and effective opportunity for a large group of victims more easily to defend their rights in the court.
