Congratulations to prof. Koen Lenaerts, the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, who today was awarded by the Vilnius University Title of Honorary Doctorate.
This is an honorable award dedicated for his input creating European law system in Lithuania and proclaiming Vilnius University in Europe Union. Prof. Koen Lenaerts keeps close contact with VU Law Faculty, he participates in conferences organized by faculty and cooperates with PhD students. Among his various achievements is a m
eaningful contribution to the analysis of the European Courts system development.
“It is an honor for me to become an honorary doctor of this prestigious, oldest university in Eastern Europe, world-renowned for its academic excellence. The values of Vilnius University are the same as those of the European Union stands for – openness to diversity of ideas and views, respect for human rights, and diversity of identities,” said Prof. K. Lenaerts.
