Center of Ukrainian Law is actively expanding its activities, contributing to Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Center of Ukrainian Law of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University continues its active work. Today, on 6 November, the Head of the Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr Indrė Isokaitė-Valužė, gave the presentation “European Commission’s Annual Report on Ukraine: Conclusions and the Assessment from the Lithuanian Perspective” at the international discussion “European Commission‘s Annual Report on Ukraine: Taking Stock and Looking Forward”.

In recent weeks, the Center of Ukrainian Law has been actively represented by the I. Isokaitė-Valužė at other international events: on 28-29 October in Lviv at the opening of the week of the long-standing EU Study Days project, where for the third time in this project she gave lectures to students from various Ukrainian universities, and on 17 October at the congress of the Ukrainian Association for European Studies on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, where she delivered a presentation on “The European Union and the United Nations: Several aspects on the Security and Reconstruction of Ukraine”.

I. Isokaitė-Valužė, the Head of the Center, is glad that among the initiatives of support to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Law Center has its content of activities, a unique history and a contribution to historical changes, while being a part of them. “The Center’s activities have evolved and changed: established as an “academic refuge” for students and lecturers fleeing the war in Ukraine, the Center has recently even more “moved” to Ukraine: each conference, discussion, lecture or training not only counts the years of the war, but also demonstrates the progress and gives a sense of the great meaning of the activities. Every time I am in Lviv, I see the sincere and patient work of their academic community, their activism and progress, their faith, sometimes filled with fatigue or sometimes with frustration, but always with a great desire to win in their struggle for freedom, to become a member of the European Union and a part of the European academic community, and with a great gratitude to Lithuania and a sincere friendship,” she says.

The Center’s activities are also strengtened by creating international connections. Memorandum of Cooperation was recently signed between the VU Law Faculty and the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, whereby the parties agreed to strengthen the visibility of the Center of Ukrainian Law and to expand its activities.
