At the invitation of scholars from the Pantheon-Assas University of Paris, the Faculty of Law of this University hosted Laurynas Didžiulis, Associate Professor at Vilnius University. Law Faculties of both universities are considered leading and prestigious law schools in their respective countries.
During his visit, Assoc. Prof. Laurynas Didžiulis gave a presentation in the Law of Obligations section on civil liability in pre-contractual relations and chains of persons. Representatives of French, Italian, Austrian and Japanese jurisprudence participated in the discussion and provided insights into the Lithuanian case law presented to them. The panellists were somewhat critical of the Lithuanian case law on the application of the non-cumulative rule and indicated what decisions their national courts would have made in the situations referred to. The legal scholars also discussed other problems in the law of obligations and sought solutions. We hope that this visit will strengthen cooperation between Lithuanian and French legal scholars.
