NOHA training in humanitarian action

 

 

 

Short online course 27 – 29 May 2025

NOHA is an international association of universities that aims to enhance professionalism in the humanitarian sector. Since 2021, in collaboration with the Lithuanian National Non-Governmental Development Cooperation Organisations’ Platform (Lithuanian NGDO Platform), Faculty of Law has annually organized online training sessions on humanitarian action.

The course is aimed at civil servants, staff from local, international and civil society organizations, and more generally those who are involved in humanitarian action and feel the need to upgrade their basic knowledge and skills. Through engaging lectures, workshops of the course, participants will gain an understanding of the multidimensional challenges and responsibilities inherent in humanitarian efforts.

The training will begin with an analysis of the availability of humanitarian assistance during the armed attacks. Participants will also be introduced to relevant legal aspects in the case of hybrid threats. Practitioners will discuss the issue of forced displacement, including the importance of identifying the vulnerability and special needs of individuals. Participants of the training will learn about the importance of the trauma-informed humanitarian action. The last day of the training is dedicated to intensive practical training on the possibilities of negotiation and mediation in providing humanitarian assistance.

Registration deadline: 19 May 2025

Fee: EUR 200 must be paid until 20 May 2025 (payment details will be submitted after the registration). Cancellation fee will be reimbursed for valid reasons.

Lithuanian NGDO Platform will provide limited amount of full participation fee covering scholarships for NGO representatives from Lithuanian and EU13 countries, Eastern Partnership region countries. A fee discount may be applied to the VU community.

Certificates: participants will be awarded with a certificate from NOHA and Vilnius University.
