Vilnius-Lviv: long-standing cooperation of faculties and its development

 

Memorandum of Cooperation between the Vilnius University Law Faculty and the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was signed during a visit to Lviv, Ukraine, this week, 15-18 July.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Haroldas Šinkūnas, Dean of the VU Law Faculty, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Indrė Isokaitė-Valužė, Head of the Center of Ukrainian Law, participated at the end-of-the academic year ceremony and greeted graduates of the Faculty of International Relations. As well they discussed cooperation with the Rector and Pro-Rector of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and with Vice-Dean and professors.

The faculties have a long history of close and successful cooperation, including institutions’ dual Master’s degree programmes, student and faculty exchanges, research and other areas.

Signed Memorandum not only consolidates and develops this important experience of cooperation, but also provides for an agreement between the parties to develop the activities of the Center of Ukrainian Law of the VU Law Faculty, to which special attention was paid throughout the visit. Center of Ukrainian Law organises events of legal science, visits of foreign guests. Center is represented at conferences in Ukraine, lectures and trainings are held for Ukrainian students, cooperation with Ukrainian academic, scientific and other institutions is being actively developed. The Center was established in March 2022 to enable students and lecturers who left Ukraine due to Russian agression to continue their studies and research activities at the VU Law Faculty.
