Today, on the initiative of the Embassy of Lithuania in Israel and the VU Law Faculty, the Jewish Law Summer School “7th Historical Jewish Law Moot Court – The Rabbinic Tribunal of Vilnius” started at Vilnius University. The participants were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vigita Vėbraitė, Vice-Dean for Studies of the VU Law Faculty.
The school will last for 9 days, during which there will be lectures, a moot court and a final event at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania. Tomorrow the students will receive a lecture on Lithuanian law by Assoc. Prof. Dr. V. Vėbraitė. The event will be attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel, Hadas Wittenberg Silverstein, and law students and lecturers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Vienna, the Tel Aviv University, and the Cardozo School of Law in New York.
The Jewish Law Summer School is usually held each year in a different country with links to Jewish culture. Last year’s event took place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
