The project “Protecting Working Conditions in the Platform Economy: Moldovian-Lithuanian Social Dialogue”, submitted by the team of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University, has received funding from the European Commission’s (EC) Social Prerogative and Specific Competences Lines (SOCPL) programme. This programme is linked to other EC programmes such as European Horizon, JUSTICE, which are complementary, ambitious and address problematic issues. This is the first project of its kind to be coordinated by the VU Law Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Haroldas Šinkūnas, Dean of the VU Law Faculty, delighted with this achievement.
The aim of this project is to contribute to the promotion of social dialogue between employers and trade unions, as well as between the state institutions responsible for regulating labour platforms in the context of cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova. International labour and tax law experts and economists representing Lithuania will seek an effective social dialogue with the Tax Disputes Commission under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and Moldovian partners (National Employment Agency, Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Chamber of Commerce and Industry), in order to improve the social and working conditions of platform workers.
The idea for the project was formulated in the context of the rapid changes in technology that have affected the nature of work and, at the same time, the growing supply of independent workers on digital work platforms for business clients.
