Interactive event to commemorate Lithuania’s independence day
On March 12th, 2019, at the Scientific Communication and Information Center of the Vilnius University Library, the Department of Public Law of the Faculty of Law of VU and the student corporation Iustitia organized a traditional event dedicated to the day of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence. This year, the interactive format of the event was chosen, during which the student teams had to prepare two tasks: to come up with legal and political stages of the (alternative) restoration of Lithuania’s independence and to create an original text of the act of independence.
The event was attended by 17 student teams, a total of 117 students from various faculties of Vilnius University and students from Vytautas the Great University. Students’ assignments were evaluated by the Commission, whose chairman was dr. Stasys Stačiokas and members: prof. Antanas Marcijonas, prof. Ignas Vėgelė, prof. Jonas Prapiestis, assoc. prof. dr. Haroldas Šinkūnas, dr. Stasys Šedbaras and President of Signatories Club Birutė Valionytė. Prizes for the winners were established by the VU Faculty of Law, the Bar Council, Signatories Club and Seimas member dr. Stasys Šedbaras.
Six nominations were announced: 1st place winner – VU TF 1st year student team “Linksmosios studentės”, 2nd place winners – VU TF 1st year student team “Litai”, 3rd place shared by VU TF 1st year student team “Pro et contra” and the joint team of law students of various courses “Teisingumas”, and the 4th place was shared by the team of students of the Faculty of Philosophy of VU I year “Civil Society” with the team of law students of VMU from Kaunas.
